RoIP - Radio over IP

Radio over Internet Protocol, or RoIP, advances wireless communications to a new level by combining cloud computing (the Internet) and wireless digital communications to become a part of what we call Vodaeo (Voice-Data-Video) communications!

Until now, the primary reasons for switching to digital were mainly for the benefits of privacy, extended battery life on portables, better audio, and range improvement over narrow band analog systems. Now there is a compelling new reason for going digital! Actually, not just any digital technology, but IDAS!

As you may know from reading this web site's Home Page, ICOM is the pioneer developer of 6.25 kHz communications technology.  Although compatible with a common standard known as NXDN, there are some differences that are of interest to prospective purposes.  One of the distinctive differences is a superior trunking repeater system that is based on utilization of the Internet.  Another is the extension of your 2-way radio system to Internet connected PC's.  Both of these enhancements are based on RoIP technology and are a part of our Vodaeo product family.Home Page

We just received a request for pricing on a base station radio and six remotes.  Traditionally, we would have quoted the VHF radio requested plus a half dozen tone remotes such as those offered by CPI, Gai-Tronics, IDA, or Midian.  Typically, we would figure around three hundred dollars each plus a near equal amount for installation.  Now, we have alternatives.

One of the ICOM alternatives is to use an X-Band 50 repeater (under $2,000) using the VHF radio as the "base" and the UHF radio for UHF control used in conjunction with a good quality portable radio priced in the $200 range.  Another option is the use of the ICOM RC-FS10 remote communicator system which allows up to eight PC's to communicate over the radio system.  Additional information is available at www.info4u.us/IDAS-RoIP.pdf.  We'll talk about pricing shortly.

The really good news is that you can built a radio system starting with conventional analog radios, advance to digital when you are ready, and move to the full benefits of RoIP when you are ready.  Go to www.info4u.us/IDAS-EZ-Planner.pdf for more information.  Now - let's talk about pricing!
