Partner Products
A prime example of the application of partnering technology is by combining the products of different NXDM Forum members - in this case, ICOM and Ritron. The American Association of Railroads (AAR) has standardized on NXDN technology to meet their increasing need for more channel space. Narrow band 12.5 kHz equipment will be required by July of 2010 and Very Narrow Band (VNB) at a later date.
ICOM offers excellent product offerings for portable, fixed station, and standard mobile applications. Supplying a radio for use in a diesel locomotive is quite different. Notably, locomotives operate on 72 volts with wildly swinging voltage variations depending on the operating conditions.
Ritron, a member of the NXDN Forum has been providing specialized products for the railroad industry for many years. By combining the products and ICOM and Ritron, Falcon Direct is capable of providing total communications solutions for Class II and Class III railroads.
